Utah Wildlife Research
Since 2005 Dr. Cramer has worked with Utah Department of Transportation, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, and other partners to research and help design wildlife crossing structures and other wildlife mitigation such as escape ramps, guards, fences, and existing structures. Evaluation of the Effectiveness of an Animal-Detection Driver Warning System
The research will help gauge the effectiveness of an animal detection-driver warning system on SR 73 near Eagle Mountain, in affecting driver behavior and reducing wildlife-vehicle collisions. This warning system is placed at a wildlife crosswalk where there are gaps in the wildlife exclusion fence and mule deer are expected to move through during fall and spring migrations. The study is being conducted through 2025. See below for study information.
